Your guide to understanding how NAVP members collaborate with veterinary teams and support animal care

What is the role of a Veterinary Physiotherapist?

NAVP-registered Veterinary Physiotherapists use evidence-based techniques to support recovery, improve mobility, and enhance the overall wellbeing of animals. They work in close collaboration with the referring vet.

You can find an NAVP member near to you by using the find a practitioner tab. The veterinary physiotherapist will then liaise with you to discuss the case and treatment plan.

All NAVP members hold a relevant degree or postgraduate qualification to level 6 or above in veterinary physiotherapy and are required to maintain CPD and professional insurance through their membership.

NAVP members are trained to treat a wide range of species including horses, dogs, cats, rabbits, livestock, exotic animals, and zoo species.

Treatment plans are developed in consultation with the referring vet and tailored to the individual animal. Progress is regularly reviewed and communicated back to the veterinary team.
