Our members have worked hard to achieve recognised qualifications and are committed to upholding a strict Code of Conduct and Conditions of Membership. We place a high value on professionalism and aim for our association to lead the way in raising standards within Veterinary Physiotherapy and animal welfare.
Membership is granted through a rigorous application process, which includes a minimum qualification of a BSc (Hons) degree, level 6 and above. This ensures that both veterinary professionals and the public can trust that our members provide the level of care expected of a qualified veterinary physiotherapist.
New applicants are initially registered as Category 2 members, giving them access to ongoing support and guidance from more experienced colleagues via a mentoring program. Once further criteria are met, members progress to Category 1 status, reflecting their advanced standing and experience within the profession.
Full UK Membership is available to practicing Veterinary Physiotherapists based in the UK who hold a recognised qualification at Level 6 (BSc Hons) or above in Veterinary Physiotherapy. Members must be actively engaged in clinical practice and meet the professional standards set by NAVP.

NAVP offers a Career Break membership option for individuals who need to temporarily step away from practice. This may be due to reasons such as injury, parental leave, extended travel, illness, or a sabbatical.
This membership can be held for up to two years and includes a 50% reduction in fees compared to Full Membership. During this period, members are expected to be non-practicing and therefore do not require professional insurance.
To maintain professional standards, Career Break members are required to complete 50% of the CPD hours expected of Full Members. Category 1 members will retain their status throughout the break.
Upon returning to Full Membership, members will be invited to a Keeping in Touch meeting with the NAVP Executive Committee. This meeting will review CPD undertaken during the break and assess readiness to resume full professional responsibilities.
Student membership offers Veterinary Physiotherapy students valuable insight into the expectations, standards, and latest developments within the profession. As a student member, you’ll benefit from access to experienced veterinary physiotherapists, support throughout your studies, and opportunities to attend training events.
NAVP student members also enjoy many of the same benefits as Full Members, including discounted CPD opportunities and access to affiliate schemes.
To be eligible, applicants must be enrolled in an Ofqual-registered degree programme in Veterinary Physiotherapy.
Please select the membership type below that’s right for you. Membership runs annually from 1 March to the end of February. Members joining after 1 August are eligible to a 50% discount.
